Tier B - Browser Estimate Ready

Screen Refresh Rate (Hz) Estimator

Estimate monitor refresh rate (60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz, 240Hz) via frame timing analysis. Samples consecutive requestAnimationFrame callbacks across 300+ frames to estimate display vertical synchronization frequency in Hertz (Hz).

How to use this test

  1. Click 'Start Refresh Rate Test'.
  2. Ensure browser window is active in foreground.
  3. Wait 3-5 seconds while 300 animation frames are sampled.
  4. Review estimated refresh rate (e.g. 60Hz, 144Hz) and variance histogram.

How to understand your result

Looks good: Frame intervals stabilized near standard refresh boundaries with low jitter.
Check this: Measured Hz was lower than expected (check if OS display settings are locked to 60Hz).

Troubleshooting: what to try next

  • In Windows, open Display Settings > Advanced Display and confirm refresh rate is set to maximum.
  • Check video cable: HDMI 1.4 caps high resolutions at 60Hz; use DisplayPort or HDMI 2.0+.

What this test cannot tell you

Variable refresh rate (G-Sync/FreeSync) displays will report current desktop idle refresh rate.
